R-M, the premium refinish paint brand of BASF’s Coatings division, and Sauber Group’s Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake have announced an exclusive partnership. Based on a common aim for efficiency and sustainability, the partnership will see R-M becoming exclusive technical paint supplier of the team.

As the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula One has often been the testing ground for new technologies which have been subsequently become the standard in the automotive industry. Sauber Group’s Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake will rely on R-M’s paint expertise to apply its products on high-tech materials such as titanium and carbon fiber, reducing the weight of paint on its cars and surpassing all eco-effectiveness standards in the industry. The Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake C43 is painted using R-M’s eco-friendly, lightweight, innovative paint line AGILIS, whose logo is sported on the floor line of the team’s 2023 Formula One World Championship challenger.

R-M AGILIS and AGILIS AMPLIFIER Multi-Purpose tintable solution, suitable for application on new e-coated panels and interior finishes, helped to reduce paint weight on the racing cars by 50% compared to conventional paints and significantly improved their productivity and profitability. With less than 250 grams per liter, AGILIS exceeds all global VOC requirements reaching the lowest VOC content in the industry and helps customers like Sauber Group to shape the future with the most eco-effective solutions in the industry.
