R-M®, a 100-year premium brand of BASF Coatings division, has recently been appointed as the latest supplier of aftermarket refinish coatings for Dongfeng Nissan, one joint venture of Nissan in China. This is the first time that R-M penetrated into Nissan, a significant step to further establish BASF Coatings’ presence in Nissan, a major Japanese OEM.

The new contract will become effective from October 01, 2021, when R-M products and the respective service solutions are supplied at around 800 Nissan branded shops across the country. Additionally BASF will also provide product trainings and optimization consultancy of paint shops’ operation as part of the service, as well as support Nissan’s activities like service skills contest and car owners’ open day, to help Nissan implement its sustainable practices and goals while growing the business.

BASF and Dongfeng Nissan have established strategic partnership globally and locally some 20 years before. Following the e-coat tank win at its Huadu plant earlier this year, BASF Coatings took the partnership between BASF refinish coatings and Dongfeng Nissan to a more strategic level for the two sides.
