Six best painters from across China competed in the R-M® Best Painter Contest 2021 China Battle concluded on October 22nd at BASF-TGPM Refinish Competence Center in Foshan, Guangdong Province. The national finalist Hai XIONG from Chengdu Dongcheng Anbang Changan MAZDA will represent China to proceed to the R-M Best Painter Contest Global Final which has been postponed to June 2022 in France. It will be the first time for China to attend the international event that BASF’s premium automotive refinish brand R-M sponsors.
“I think the most important factor to win is just to keep a ‘simple heart’ -- to deliver the same meticulous work and best painting skills as I’ve been always doing in my daily work,” said XIONG. “Compared with other paints, I felt that R-M products have the best quality, color matching and leveling.” Terry Su, Business Management of Automotive Refinish Coatings Solution Great China congratulated all winners and wished the national finalist best luck in the upcoming R-M Best Painter Contest Global Final. “BASF Refinish Coatings is committed to sponsoring global and local competitions which attract more young talents to be the next-generation painters, enabling the sustainable future of our industry.”
The candidates went through a streamlined process of pre-treatment, waterborne basecoat painting, clearcoat painting and color fine-tuning. After a full day of work, they painted the panels with standard R-M red. BASF's expert judges evaluated the results from three dimensions: process, appearance effect and color fine-tuning.
