Thomas Gmür: a new Brand Manager at R-M
Thomas Gmür has been named the R-M Brand Manager in the newly created position of Brand Manager. In his new role, his objectives will be to maintain the up-market image of the brand in countries where there is a clear differentiation between competitors brands.“R-M is positioned as a leading brand at the top end of the automotive refinish market. My mission will lead me to launch and steer brand projects that are specific to a country/region, to progress the brand portfolio, to work on the branding of our product and service offers, and to perform regular analysis of market trends,” says Thomas Gmür.
A man of conviction and experience, who will fly the flag for the R-M brand.
Thomas Gmür’s objective since taking over as R-M Brand Manager at the start of 2011, is “to consolidate the brand’s premium image and continue its economic growth.” The 41 year-old Swiss-Brazilian father of three has the dual advantage of a solid university education and diverse operational experience. With a degree in Political Science and an MSc in Business Administration from the University of Bern, he is also bilingual in French and German and speaks five languages in total.
An international career
Thomas joined BASF over ten years ago and has since forged an international career. He has a thorough knowledge of the R-M brand and the industry, world wide. Following three years in the US as a Market Research Analyst, and then Product Manager, he spent four years in Clermont in the Strategy department of the European Coatings Refinish department, and until 2007, headed up R-M Communication. He then went to Münster in Germany to develop the Salcomix brand (industrial paint), and three years later returned to Clermont as Brand Manager for the R-M brand.
