ONYX HD - innovative and environment-friendly technology

The mixing bases consist of highly concentrated pigment pastes. The water is only added at the last moment, i.e. directly before application. This gives you two important benefits : the mixing bases are not sensitive to frost and can be stored for up to five years. Therefore, the work in your bodyshop will comply with the legislation on reducing solvent emissions (corresponding to 80% fewer solvents compared with solvent-borne products).

The UNO HD line remains unchanged, you’ll continue to use the same mixing bases. Only the additives and the hardener are being replaced. No major change, yet a real refinement to comply with the new legislation.

CRYSTAL BASE - only from R-M

 Carmakers are making more and more use of special-effect colours. The result is the ever-increasing expenditure on a growing number of slow-moving bases.


R-M has the solution : CRYSTAL BASE in small 125 ml bottles to reduce stocks. They are 100% compatible with ONYX HD. Since no stirring is required, there are no additions necessary for the mixing scheme.

Colormaster

Colormaster is 100% matched to ONYX HD. Overview of the legislation

More stringent legislation to limit solvent emissions

EU Directive 99/13 lays down a reduction in solvent emissions for bodyshops that consume more than 0.5 tonnes of solvents per year. This target can be met by using more environment-friendly products such as water-borne basecoats. This legislation applies with immediate effect for new bodyshops and with effect from October 2007 for existing operations.

A change was implemented for the automotive refinish sector in April 2004. This specifies that paint manufacturers may only offer environment-friendly products for the European market from that point. In the case of products manufactured on or after 1 January 2007, the solvent content must not exceed a certain threshold in the ready-to-use product.

In concrete terms this means that your bodyshop has to be ready for conversion to our ONYX HD and UNO HD 420 product lines and the corresponding undercoat materials and clearcoats from 1 January 2007.
