Successful premiere of CARIZZMA in Paris

Customized refinishing is a must for tuning – but not without an eco-touch

Refinishing jobs in the tuning sector are also subject to European environmental regulations. To comply with the European VOC (volatile organic compound) directives, refinishing products must have a much lower solvent content than was previously the case. There are no exceptions to this stringent legislation, not even for special paints. And at the Paris Tuning Show R-M, BASF Coatings’ paint brand, showed that this was no problem, making a splash with CARIZZMA, its VOC-compliant paint system for car tuning. CARIZZMA is both VOC compliant and environmentally friendly, since it's based on the ONYX HD waterborne basecoat system.

At the Paris show, the R-M team presented four Audi TTs. Over the next two years, they will continue to be featured as part of a road show at trade fairs, as well as at importers, dealerships and customers. Six hundred journalists from 30 countries and tens of thousands of visitors at the “Le Bourget” exhibition area were thrilled by the four vehicles refinished with CARIZZMA paints. Their enthusiasm was shared by show organizer Eric de Seynes, who spontaneously moved all his TV interviews to the R-M booth, as well as by tuning greats Gerry Blyenberg (ProRider) and Richie Warren (Gumball 3000), who made frequent stops at the R-M booth. As E. de Seynes put it: “R-M is presenting the show’s most glamorous and best finished cars. We're proud to have R-M here as our guest."

The formula: Four powders, seven dyes and ONYX HD as the base

In the world of car tuning, customized refinishing is an absolute must. But it needs to be easy to implement. CARIZZMA is an expansion of the R-M standard portfolio. Technical support - three training modules

To ensure all aspects of the CARIZZMA spectrum are available to potential users, R-M will be offering three training modules. The basic seminar involves an introduction to the ONYX HD paint system, instructions for working with the powders and dyes and basic application techniques in the area of individual refinishing such as "Burled Wood Root", "Marbleizing" and the foil technique.

The seminar for advanced users focuses on planning and offers working aids for creative designs and techniques for complex designs such as “Flaming,” “Real Flames” and “Ghost Flames.”

Starting in 2009, R-M will be offering expert seminars with “custom painting” masters, making it true “learning from the scene."
