Colortronic: the second generation

The R-M colour matching system has been completely updated so it’s faster and easier to use.

R-M, brand of BASF Coatings, presents a new innovative portable spectrophotometer. Colortronic 2 is beneficial for bodyshops, particularly high throughput bodyshops wanting to save time and be at the forefront of technology. Colortronic 2 measures the vehicle colour from several angles and is connected to a database of over 150,000 colour formulae, which have been compiled by R-M from accurate colour matches sourced on a global basis. The software searches for the best possible match from its thousands of references and provides the best formula.

“Colortronic 2 has been designed to be fully integrated into Color Explorer 2 or Shop Master, R-M’s colour systems. Colortronic 2 makes finding a colour easier, while offering optimum accuracy - even for complex pearl and metallic colours” emphasised Roland Ricard (R-M’s colour information dissemination manager). This stand alone device requires no special knowledge about colorimetry. All the painter needs to do is place it on the bodywork, and in a few clicks he can measure and compare the colour, enabling him to find the perfect formula. Then, all he has to do is mix it.
